Nice! Can you raise the light rack easily? This is looking quite similar to Alan's, which is certainly a good looking setup. I don't have a way to raise the light rack quite yet. I am still considering my options. It would be awesome to do a mechanical lift, has anyone seen examples of this? |

This is not the exact same brand as I have, but the product is identical- and awesome. Motorizing sounds like money.
http://www.hidhut.com/catalog/grow-yoyo-pair-pi-1470.html They will hold your light fixture at a given height, but allows you to raise and lower it and it will then stay at whichever height. I found them here just now, but bought mine at Bay Area Aquarium in Webster, TX which is my friend's shop. I can call him too if you want. |

I plan to step up to a similar size to your new setup eventually. i just wish i owned my house and could build like you. I guess Ill have to buy a house just so I can fullfill my fish tank dreams. question to all. WILL I EVER BE SATISFIED? is any one actually content or do we all plan to go bigger/better?

Yea, the tank has its own breaker. I think there is one set of outlets in the display room on the same circuit. I got fortunate that the area was already laid out like that and i did not have to run many wires.

So i went for it and bought a Vortec for my tank. I am excited, finally be able to get rid of all those koralias in there. Right now i am acclimating stuff and working on the aquascaping. I dropped a few frags in there last week and boy do they look beautiful under the new lights.
I am noticing a bit of an algae growth however. It is like a really fine green algae. On the back glass it almost looks like there is green cotton on it. I hope it is not the dreaded GHA... |

I think GHA is the least annoying of the HA options but I could be wrong. Anyway try plucking that stuff off the rock, does it feel slimy or coarse? You might want to pick up some large turbos soon, dont make my mistake and wait until its a huge problem.

I was thinking about getting a lawnmower blenny and let'em go at it and beat it early.
Now is Bryopsis the same as Hair Algae? I've read about upping the mg levels to cure this, thoughts? |

Bryopsis is different, if you get a blenny make sure to get a small one. Also it appears nothing likes to eat it when its long so pluck away or if you get real angry put the rock in a 5G bucket and hit it with a toothbrush.
